Custom No.9 is a bespoke furniture studio with a showroom in Dubai. We design for homes, villas, restaurants and hotels across the UAE, through two divisions: commercial projects, and made-to-order retail collections sold in our showroom and online.
We don't own a factory. Every piece is made by trusted manufacturing partners, so the people who design, plan and check that work are the heart of what we do. If you care how things are made, we'd like to hear from you.
Open roles

Ops & Supplier Manager

Ops & Supplier Manager
Our makers are our production line, and you'll keep it running. Own every job from order to dispatch across our commercial and retail divisions.
The role
This is a hands-on operations role for someone who is relentless on follow-up and happiest when everything is on time and on paper. You'll own supplier timelines, orders, stock, records and the delivery schedule, freeing our founder to focus on design and client relationships. You'll also manage our Operations Coordinator, who runs deliveries in the field.
What you'll do
- Own production timelines for every job, commercial and retail, and chase suppliers when dates move
- Place orders with our core suppliers against approved drawings, specs and supplier terms
- Flag delays, quality issues and cost changes early, with a fix, not just the problem
- Build and run a supplier performance scorecard
- Set the dispatch and delivery schedule, and confirm final payment before anything goes out
- Manage returns, repairs and remakes with suppliers through to closure
- Keep the stock list and job files accurate, and run the job finance tracker with our accounts team
- Produce a weekly ops report, and handle office and team admin including staff visas
What we're looking for
- 4+ years in operations or supplier management, ideally in furniture, interiors, joinery or high-end retail in the UAE
- An understanding of how custom furniture is made: drawings, materials, lead times and what goes wrong
- Relentless on follow-up; firm but fair with suppliers
- Highly organised, with records others can rely on
- Comfortable managing a field team member and solving problems by phone
- UAE visa and HR admin experience is a plus
Furniture Designer
Take pieces from first sketch to finished product, across our commercial and retail divisions, from our own collections to one-off commissions.
Furniture Designer
Take pieces from first sketch to finished product, across our commercial and retail divisions, from our own collections to one-off commissions.
The role
Working closely with our founder, you'll turn ideas into concepts, 3D models and production-ready drawings, then see them through the factory floor until they're right. No catalogue clichés and no safe beige: we want someone with a strong point of view who also knows how furniture is actually built.
What you'll do
- Develop concepts, sketches and mood boards for collection pieces and bespoke commissions
- Build 3D models and renders for client presentations
- Produce full technical drawings our makers can build from without guesswork
- Specify materials, finishes, fabrics and hardware
- Interpret commercial briefs and FF&E schedules with our business development team
- Value-engineer designs to hit budgets and lead times without losing the idea
- Brief our manufacturing partners, review prototypes, and visit factories to sign off quality before anything ships
- Contribute new pieces and colourways to our retail collections
What we're looking for
- A degree or equivalent experience in furniture, product or interior design
- 3+ years designing furniture, ideally including commercial or hospitality projects
- Confident in SketchUp and AutoCAD; Rhino, rendering tools and Adobe are a plus
- A solid understanding of joinery, metalwork, upholstery and finishes
- Comfortable on a factory floor and confident giving makers clear feedback
- A portfolio you're proud of
